PEAK LEGAL GROUP, LLC is a family focused law firm, born from the partnership of the distinct, but complementary law practices of Harold O. Atencio and Sheryl L. Saavedra, who are partners in life as Husband and Wife and in the practice of law as well.

Sheryl L. Saavedra is a family law attorney who has represented family law clients for  28 years both in Litigation and collaboratively in the areas of Divorce, Custody, Parentage, Child Support, Guardianships, Adoptions, and Guardian ad Litem representation of children.  Sheryl is the Immediate Past President of the University of New Mexico School of Law Alumni Board, serves as a continuing legal education instructor and general counsel to All Faiths Children’s Advocacy Center.

Harold (Hal) Atencio has been in practice for over 31 years and focuses his Practice on Adoptions, Foster Parent Interventions, Family Formation in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), and Estate Planning.  Hal is a Fellow and past member of the Board of Trustees for the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproduction Attorneys.

Sheryl L. Saavedra has concentrated her 27 years of law practice primarily to the area of Family Law. Her position at Peak Legal Group, LLC follows a successful private practice in Roswell, NM. Sheryl devotes her practice to helping clients through various issues of Family Law including divorce, custody, child support, adoptions, abuse and neglect, and Guardian ad Litem representation.  In addition to having substantial legal experience in the abuse and neglect system, Sheryl served as the Chaves County Guardian ad Litem representing over 100 children in foster care for the years 2015 and 2016.

Harold O. Atencio JD is nationally renowned in the areas of Adoption and Assisted Reproductive Technology law and has most deservedly achieved the distinguished AV Martindale-Hubbell rating. Mr. Atencio is a Fellow of the American Academy of Adoption & Assisted Reproduction Attorneys, a former President of The Adoption and Foster Care Alliance of New Mexico and  Past Chair of AFCA New Mexico Legislative Committee
